Gospel Light Church of God in Christ Jesus (Apostolic), Inc.

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." -Acts 2:38

Baptism is an important time in the life of any believer. Through baptism, we share in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and are welcomed into the body of Christ as a child of God.

"For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ."

-Galations 3:26-27

It is done after one repents and is ready to put on the name of Christ and begin life anew. Baptisms at Gospel Light Church are done by full immersion in water and in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. They are typically performed on Sundays after service has concluded however if an alternate arrangement is required, it can be discussed with church leadership.

If there is a child who desires baptism, a parent or legal guardian must be present.

If you're ready to be baptized or simply desire to learn more, please contact us.

"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?" -John 11:25-26

"But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." -Matthew 19:14

A child is a miracle and a blessing from the Lord. Asking God to bless your child or dedicating them back to the Lord is the perfect way to start your son or daughter off with a strong foundation in Christ. When blessing babies, the parents of the child promise to raise the child in the Christian faith, until the time he or she can be responsible for their own faith journey.  The Godparents, supporting family, and congregation also makes promises to assist the parents, providing an atmosphere of Christian nurture and growth for the child.

If the parents are not active members of the church, the Pastor asks to meet with you to familiarize you with  the church’s understanding of baptism and to go over the actual service. Including the promise they will be making on behalf of their child.  Parents, supporting family members, and Godparents are invited to join in the worship and life of the church before the baptism.

"Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." -Proverbs 22:6

During the baby blessing, your child and family will receive prayer, your child will receive a certification, and a bible to start them on their faith journey.

"Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord." -Proverbs 18:22

Marriage was designed by God. The relationship between a husband and wife closely mirrors that of Christ and the church. Because of this, it is customary to want to include one's faith into their wedding ceremony. In the Christian faith, a man and woman entering into marriage become one in the sight of God.

"For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh."
-Ephesians 5:31
